RAČE-FRAM MUNICIPALITY
Castle Rače
Rače Castle is an example of a lowland island or water castle – a manor additionally protected by a high embankment. The history of the building dates back to the first half of the 16th century, when a manor with four wings and Gothic-Renaissance portals was built.
Inside the manor, in addition to the chapel dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk, the most notable feature is the “White Hall,” which today serves as a wedding hall. Due to its excellent acoustics, it is also suitable for hosting various concerts.
Today, the castle houses the premises of the municipal administration, the local office, a cinema hall, a private ethnological collection, a painting studio, and, in a smaller part, also private apartments.

The appearance of the castle has changed over time, both with the succession of owners and with the influence of various styles through the centuries. The document mentioning the first owner of the castle, Gregor Regal of Rače, was issued on 26 April 1534. Many other owners followed, the last being Vincenc Bachler Jr., a member of the Bachler family, who sold the estate and the castle at auction.
