Jarenina Manor

The history of Jarenina Manor is closely linked to wine and viticulture, as evidenced by its location among numerous vineyards. The first mentions of the manor appear in sources from the 12th century, when the Benedictines from Admont acquired the manor and its associated estate. The wine cellar is among the oldest parts of the complex, as the building has been rebuilt several times throughout history.

Today’s two-storey structure has a rectangular floor plan, with a chapel featuring a Baroque belfry attached to its western side. Above the manor’s entrance, a shield with the Admont coat of arms and the initials P. N. K. is embedded.

Jarenina Manor remained in the ownership of the Admont Monastery until 1939, when it came under the administration of the Maribor Diocese. After the occupation in 1941, the estate was taken over by the Germans. Following the war, it briefly returned to Benedictine possession before being nationalised. In 1991, through the process of denationalisation, Jarenina Manor was returned to the Admont Monastery, which still owns it today.

Jarenina Manor (Jahringhof) has since been restored. It now houses business premises and continues its long tradition of viticulture, as it is home to the Dveri-Pax wine cellar and restaurant.
